Research, Development and Technology: Forestry Nutrition

At InverBosques, we continuously evaluate the response of species to different sources and doses of fertilizers. This process is carried out in collaboration with our expert forest nutrition consultant, Jorge Eliecer Correa, guaranteeing a technical and rigorous approach. Over the years, we have conducted multiple research and tests to develop a well-balanced plant nutrition program, which is constantly evolving thanks to our continuous learning curve, guaranteeing the optimal growth and development of each species.

Nutritional optimization

We have learned that forestry nutrition is not only about the nutrients, but also about the chemical, physical and biological quality of the soils. Knowing the characteristics of the soils in the region and identifying the specific nutritional requirements of the species we plant has been the key to perfecting our nutritional framework in accordance with the needs of the area.

Our nutritional scheme

We use high-quality sources to guarantee that our trees receive the necessary nutrients. Base fertilization and top soil applications are made in a timely manner to maximize benefits, in addition to optimizing their application timing, reducing it from 4 years to 2. This includes adjustments in the doses of the specific nutrients required by each species and improvements in the physical quality of the soil.

Technological innovations

To improve nutrient application, we have introduced mechanized fertilization, a technology that enables a smoother and more efficient distribution of supplies. This method optimizes fertilizer use, ensures accurate dosing throughout the field and contributes to environmental sustainability by reducing waste and avoiding nutrient overloading in the soil.

Impacts of our nutrition scheme

Thanks to our nutrition scheme and the implementation of clonal plantations, we have achieved a remarkable homogenization of the plantations, resulting in a more uniform growth of the trees. In addition, the process of canopy enclosure has been accelerated, promoting the micro-climate and reducing competition with invasive vegetation. Finally, there has been a considerable increase in volume growth, which significantly improves the productivity and yield of our forestry areas.
