Land eligibility process: Technological innovation

In our land eligibility process, the use of advanced technologies is essential to guarantee that each decision is supported by precise and up-to-date data. Through an integrated approach, we combine tools such as Geographic Information Systems (GIS), multi-spectral drones and satellital imagery, allowing us to conduct a detailed and comprehensive assessment of potential areas for our forestry plantations.

Delimitation and land cover analysis

To initiate the assessment process, we use advanced technologies such as GIS, which provide us with an in-depth comprehension of the terrain. These systems play a crucial role in this stage, integrating and optimizing spatial data from primary and secondary sources, including field observations, satellital images and soil surveys. In particular, we are supported by Sentinel 2 satellital images, which provide a high resolution of 10 meters and the ability to capture information in multiple spectral ranges. Actualized about every 8 days, these images provide recent and accurate data on vegetation and soil conditions, facilitating the identification of the areas with the highest potential for the growth of our plantations.

Multispectral Drones and Supervised Image Characterization

The incorporation of professional multispectral drones has revolutionized our field assessment. These drones, equipped with sophisticated cameras, capture detailed aerial images that enable us to detect different types of coverage and detect potential anomalies that could negatively impact the development of the project. These images are complemented with supervised classification of satellital images, a process that allow us to precisely categorize the land cover. Based on our field experience, we created a classification model that is automatically applied to the evaluated area and then validated and adjusted with higher resolution imagery to ensure accurate maps and sustainable planning.

Integration of satellital data and field observations

The combination of satellital data with field observations is fundamental for our analysis, enabling us to encompass large extensions of land with high precision. We execute geo-referenced soil surveys that, along with the satellital images, provide a detailed analysis of the soil type and its capacity for plantation forestry development. This integrated approach ensures that each step of the entire process is supported by solid and accurate data, allowing us to make better informed decisions for the sustainable management of our forestry projects.
