Our Mini Clonal Garden: Large-scale Plant Production

In forestry, an innovative concept is gaining ground and transforming the way in which seedlings are generated: the mini clonal garden. This approach creates an environment where plant reproduction reaches unprecedented levels of efficiency and quality. But what exactly does a mini clonal garden involve and what makes it so unique?

At InverBosques, our Mini Garden emerges as a response to the necessity to optimize the production of seedlings on a large scale, streamlining the process and increasing efficiency.

The main focus of our Mini Garden lies in the cultivation of eucalyptus clones, an ideal species for asexual propagation. This process involves the selection of trees with superior development and phenotypic characteristics in the field, from which multiple cuttings are taken to generate mother plants. These, once established, become the main source of cuttings for seedling production in the nursery.

Key steps in the process of establishing and maintaining the Mini Clonal Garden include planting cuttings in containers with suitable substrates, the formation of mother plants and the application of specific fertilizers and nutrients to stimulate growth. In addition, meticulous care is carried out to ensure the health and genetic quality of the plants, such as training pruning and the application of preventive phytosanitary products.

In terms of production, the Mini Clonal Garden has a capacity of approximately 160,000 mother plants that generate up to two and a half million cuttings per month. This capacity allows us to more than satisfy market demands and guarantee a constant supply of seedlings for our forestry project.

At InverBosques we are permanently expanding our Mini Clonal Garden, renewing existing mother plants and increasing genetic diversity. With a focus on the introduction of new clones and expansion of operations, we are committed to maintain our position as leaders in sustainable forestry production.
